How it works

1. Join online — Checkout takes about two minutes, and your membership starts right away — join after we've closed for the day, and day one is tomorrow.
2. Book your visits — Sign in with your email, pick a day and time — your family's included tickets are covered by your membership. Member spots are reserved in advance, and some times won't show when we're fully booked for field trips or private events.
3. Manage everything yourself — Pause, cancel, update your card, or check your billing — all online, no emails required.

Questions families ask

Does the adult have to be the same person every time?

No. The adult spot is a spot, not a name — any parent, grandparent, or caregiver on your family list can bring the kids. Memberships can't be shared with friends or neighbors, but soon members will be able to invite a family who's new to Genius Gems — one adult and one child, free, once a month. Coming later this year. Any adult on your family list can be the grown-up — Mom Monday, Grandma Wednesday, the nanny Friday.

Can we stay all day, or book two sessions in one day?

Sessions are timed entry (about 90 minutes). Each covered person gets one included session per day — and if the kids are begging for round two, you can add the next session as regular tickets right in the same booking.

How does pausing work?

In one-month blocks, up to 3 months a year. A pause starts when your paid month ends, and you can come back anytime.

What if we have more than 2 kids (or a second adult)?

It's $25/month per person — add them during signup or right from [your membership page](/nyc/membership/manage), and they're covered every day like everyone else.

Who counts as the adult on a Duo membership?

Any adult on your family's roster — a parent, grandparent, or caregiver — one per visit.

What if our Duo family grows?

One click in your member portal upgrades you to the Family Membership ($195/month) — prorated, effective immediately, no email needed. The Family Membership covers 1 adult + up to 2 kids every day, and from there you can add any extra adult or kid for $25/month.

How do I cancel?

Online, from [your membership page](/nyc/membership/manage) — sign in with your email (no password) and it's two clicks. You keep the month you've paid for.

What if we bring more people than the membership covers?

Occasional guests are always welcome — they just pay regular admission, right in the same booking. If someone's joining you regularly, adding them to the membership is $25/month — it pays for itself on the first visit.

Can I gift a membership?

Coming soon — memberships will be giftable later this year.

How often can we come?

Every single day, if you like — each person on your membership can come to one session a day. Book the times that suit you. Book up to 10 upcoming visits at a time.

Is this a drop-off program?

No — kids always come with a grown-up from your family list.

We visited recently — does that count toward a membership?

Yes. Your most recent visit comes off your first month. **Real examples** - 2 tickets ($29.99 each = $59.98) → join the Duo ($149): pay **$89.02** + tax your first month. - 3 tickets ($89.97) → join the Family Membership ($195): pay **$105.03** + tax. - 4 tickets ($119.96) → join the Duo ($149): the credit caps at half your first month ($74.50), so you pay **$74.50** + tax. Credits use ticket prices before tax and card fees, come from your most recent visit (within 7 days), and apply once per household, for first-time members. We apply it automatically at checkout when the visit was booked under your own email — if you don't see it, just reply to your confirmation email and we'll sort it out.

The fine print (it's short)

• Current members: nothing changes about how you visit — you keep your current plan at your current rate. We're moving membership billing to a new, simpler system; watch your email for a personal link to move over. It takes about a minute, and your price and renewal date stay exactly the same.
• Your membership covers up to your plan's included adults and children each calendar day — and everyone can come once a day. For example, on a Family Membership with a second adult added (4 people covered), Parent 1 can visit with Child 1 in the morning, and Parent 2 with Child 2 in the afternoon. Each person, one session a day.
• Your family list can include up to 4 adults (parents, grandparents, caregivers) who take turns in the adult spot — it doesn't add spots, and your membership must be active at the time of your visit.
• Additional guests are welcome at regular admission prices. Classes, camps, snacks, and other extras are separate from membership.
• Each location has its own membership: a Millburn membership isn't valid in NYC, and vice versa.
• Memberships renew monthly until cancelled. Pause or cancel online — no calls, no emails.
• When you cancel, you keep full access through the end of the month you've paid for.
• If booked visits repeatedly go unused, we may limit how many you can hold at once.
